The plan for today was to work in the garden. The pre-sown lettuce and bean plants are ready to be planted. I know it is a little early for it, since we still have a chance on frost. And there was a forecast of rain. When I woke up this morning I saw that the weather gods kept their promise.
A nice cup of tea, a boiled egg with a piece of bread with nuts, the stove was on and … a new Bliss. My day could not go wrong, nor could Luca’s since she also got an egg.
Last year at the end of February Luca was born. Other people with a Labradoodle told me I should forget everything that has to do with wool for the first year. Since I don’t want to choose between them I decided the little pup should get used to it right from the start.
The second time I visited the breader I brought a knitted pillow, stuffed with unwashed wool. I asked her if I could give it to the puppies to play with. The result was that it was torn apart within half an hour and the puppies were rolling in the wool.
When Luca was eight weeks old she could come home with us. I had left all my wool projects as they were and she received a sheep’s pelt to lay on. At first I needed to be careful when spinning; the turning wheel fascinated her. But so far there haven’t been problems with Bliss!
